Rebuild node after hardware failuer

I have a 2-node cluster, and have experienced a hardware failure that
killed the SYS volume. I need to rebuild the server, but would like to
know the correct procedure. Can I safely remove the node from eDirectory,
then rebuild it with the same name and add it back to the cluster? In my
experience, the only way to completely remove a node from a cluster
requires all of the nodes in the cluster to be restarted in order for the
node that has been removed to completely disappear.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
