Relocate iFolder 2.x

I need bit of a sanity check, I get confused easily 🙂

I want to relocate ifolder from a nw65 to another nw65 server
(existing ifolder server is to be decommissioned)

All references to the existing ifolder server are set to use a dns entry
instead of the server name:

ie/ dns name ifolder.ourdom.com = oldserv.ourdom.com

eDir objects:
iFolder_server01 = ifolder.ourdom.com
iFolder_ldap01 = ifolder.ourdom.com

users ifolder client is set to login to ifolder.ourdom.com

On the destination server, I have installed iFolder and configured it
and all is working well. Obviously this is not setup as above, but as
follows:

iFolder_server02 = newserv.ourdom.com
iFolder_ldap02 = newserv.ourdom.com

I'm not quite sure on how to attack this relocation...

Is it just a simple case of

1) Get the users to logout of the ifolder client
2) Copy the ifolder data to the new server
3) Update the ifolder.ourdom.com DNS entry to point to the IP of
newserv.ourdom.com
4) Get the users to log back in???

Then the delete the old ifolder_server01 & ifolder_ldap01 objects?

or....

1) Take a copy of of the ifolder data
2) Delete all ifolder servers via imanager
3) Update the ifolder.ourdom.com DNS entry to point to the IP of
newserv.ourdom.com
3) recreate the new ifolder server objects based on the newserv and use
the DNS name where applicable
4) Get the users to log back in???

Cheers all.

Re: Relocate iFolder 2.x

Ok for those that are interested, having iFolder set to a dns entry
worked like a charm !!!

Simply changed the ifolder dns entry to point to the new server.

Got laptop users to reboot (to pick up new dns entry), auto update the
new ifolder client, followed by a final reboot.

I never bothered copying the old ifolder data to the new server, just
let them re-sync up to new server.
