Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

This was brought up back in March and the answer I got from the forumn was
why upgrade if you don't have too.

HAs there been a fix for this problem

I install SP5 on my NW65sp3 or my sp4a boxes and Remote manager stops working

I try going to http:// IP:8008 and I get a blank page
same if I try Https:// IP:8009 I get a secure blank page

But if I just goto IP I get the Novel welcome page for the server

The console claims both Apache server and admin server are running

I've been told to upgrade to SP5 as it fixes memory leak issues and a
particular BM issue.

NRM and the admin server are two different things. Apache provides
iDamager etc. and httpstk.nlm and portal.nlm provide NRM. Make sure
that those modules are loaded.

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

I double checked and Portal and HTTPstk are being loaded multiple times

Httpstk loads fine

The first portal load ver 4.01 Dec 2005 loads fines

The second portal load gives a Server 5.70-155 Module not initiated

I can back out of SP5 which will return me to a working NRM.

POrtal.nlm will only load once.

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

Ok... normally it will load with a [not multiple] like alot of nlms

it is not doing that it is giving the error message and failing, which
inturn means NRM doesn't work.

Try:
unload httpstk
httpstk /reset
httpstk

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

Unfortunately this on its own wants everything unloaded down to DS.

I tried reseting the httpstk in the autoexec.ncf and rebooting
which didn't really do anything

trying to load portal gives an error allocating resource tag (0x48424E57)
server -5.70-1553 moduale initialization failed.

a) there is a post sp5 httpstk
b) try moving httpstk higher in autoexec.ncf so it doesn't autoload

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

Thanks for the advice and help

I found the answer in this thread:
http://forums.novell.com/group/novell.support.netware.6x.install-upgrade/readerNoFrame.tpt/@thread@41353@F@10@D-,D@+41139+41325/@article@41330

Marcel posted the proper the proper load order which is what the issue was,
My autoexecs had been edited way back in NW6.0 by a consultant helping me
setup new network, for ease of identifying issues...Boy has that proved to
be less then helpful now.

Thanks again now off to fix the autoexec.ncf in several other servers.

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

I have the same problem on one of 10 servers. the ndsimon.nlm and the
portal.nlm wouldn't load. The load order is okay:

load nile
load nicisdi.XLM
load SASDFM.XLM
LOAD SAS
Load PKI.NLM
load https /SSL ....
load portal
load ndsimon

The httpstk is loaded, https://xx.xx.xx.xx with the server-IP works
fine, pkidiag has no problems.

Any hints ??

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

reorder the commands to match what have been given. your httpstk is
too far down.

the order I usually use is:

LOAD NILE.NLM
LOAD HTTPSTK.NLM /SSL /KEYFILE:"SSL CertificateIP"
LOAD NICISDI.XLM
LOAD SASDFM.XLM
LOAD SAS.NLM
LOAD PKI.NLM
LOAD NLDAP.NLM
LOAD EMBOX.NLM
LOAD PORTAL.NLM
LOAD NDSIMON.NLM

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

I've set e delay of 5 seconds after "load httpstk..." and also i've
deleted the servcfg files in c:\nwserver". After a reboot the portal
works fine.

Re: Remote Manager not working after NW65SP5 install

the load commands between httpstk and portal usually take care of it
but a 5 second delay can't hurt anything...
