SP5 - big problem with netstorage

I just applied sp5 and see the following problem: when download big files
(more than 400 MB) I get - after about downloading 50 MB of the file -
message on the logger screen: NSS released 0 cache pages upon request.
After serveral seconds server get abend. If files are smaller, all is OK.
Upploading files also is OK.
Server has 6 GB RAM and SET FILE CACHE MAXIMUM SIZE is 1073741824
I tried to set it up to 2147483648 but server changed it again to 1073741824.
Could anybody help me?

Check your startup files: autoexec.bat & autoexec.ncf. DO you have a
"server -u387000000" setting in autoexec.bat? Is your SET FILE CACHE
MAXIMUM SIZE = 1073741824 set in autoexec.ncf? What about startup.ncf?

The server is auto tuning memory too agressively, and abending.

Can you load seg.nlm, and get a copy of the segstats.txt for the server
(load seg, then from the seg main screen '/' -> Info -> Write Segstats)
then post that here.

Also, Can you do a "load config /all" from the server, then post the
resulting sys:system\config.txt, after removing the file listing that
occurs after the set commands, and any sensitive infomation- eg serial
number, public IP addresses, snmp community strings, remote access
passwords etc.

After about the fifth abend server destroyed several files in c:\nwserver
(there were bushes in the file names) and I couldn't lauch it at all.
Fortunatelly, I made sys: image before patching, so the only thing I was
able to do was returning to sp4a. I have above 70 000 users so I can't keep
abending server; I must deliver constant work without any breaks.
I know seg, so I took few segstat.txt during sp5. Here you can see:

For the memory issues, these settings should resolve the abends:

In autoexec.bat, add -u559448064 to the server load line. ie "server
-u559448064"

In autoexec.ncf add at the beginning:

set file cache maximum size=1610612736
set auto tune server memory=off
set vm cache pool maximum pages=32768
set fs cache pool desired pages=256000
set fs cache pool lots of pages=768000
set fs cache pool minimum pages to transfer out=512
set fs cache pool minimum pages to transfer in=256
set vm cache pool percentage=10
nss /minbuffercachesize=131072

then edit sys:_netware\_ndsdb.ini and append

preallocatecache=true

then reboot the server. Once the server has been up for a while, go into
NRM (http://<server ip>:8008 ) View Memory Config -> Virtual Memory
System -> Virtual Memory Statistics. If the Need Free Pages value is 1,
drop me an email.

_Thx a lot_.
To apply these settings I am to stay for a night at work (I can't do it
during normal working hours once more - I had to much breaks today),
install sp5 again and apply setting you wrote. Tomorrow.
I'll report effects here.

In NRM there is value: need free page = 1

ech, the story is the same. Server got abend just few seconds after I tried
download a file about 700 MB. (of course after all setting you wrote).
What to do?

Can you post the abend log please, along with a new segstats.txt.

all the settings were applied. There is nothing new in abend.log - server
died to quickly.

The settings are definitely there, and look a lot better - mostly, apart
from the abend. Try setting "set auto restart after abend=0" - it gives
the system a better chance of getting an abend.log. If it does abend
again on a download, make a note of the nature of the abend from the
abend screen.

OK - abend.log is still old, but on the abend screen I see:

What more I can tell - I caused few abend by downloading big files, each
time on the abend screen the process was owned by another nlm: server.nlm
and ws2_32.nlm
