SP8b?

I'm seeing a lot of references lately to Netware 6.5 SP8b (the latest
iprint update for example).

Did I miss a memo somewhere that an 8b was released?

The only SP8B I'm aware of is the iPrint patch itself:

"iPrint Windows 7 support - NetWare 65 Support Pack 8b"

I'd seen it other places too, I'll have to look around again, the one
you posted is the latest one that I saw which made me post about it.

Re: SP8b?

There has been no NW65SP8a, and there has been and will not be an NW65SP8b either.

What there are, are post-SP8 patches that include the designation a, b etc as they are iterated. Nw65sp8 - CoolSolutionsWiki

So the first post-SP8 NSS patch is N65NSS8a.zip, if another one is released it would be N65NSS8b.zip. The first iPrint patch after SP8 is iprntnw65sp8a.zip, a second one would be iprntnw65sp8b.zip. And so on. But those do not relate to any consideration of the actual SP being revved at all, they purely relate to those single-product patches.
