TSM and OES 11 SP2

Since upgrading to OES11 SP2 we've had issues with TSM either failing to backup resources OR taking forever, looked thru the knowledge base and nothing seemed to match. Anyone seen anything like this?

TSM 6.4.0

OES 11 SP2 (novell release -> Version = 11.2 Patch level =2 )
SLES 11 SP3 (Suse-release -> Version 11 Patch level =3)

thanks in advance!

Has been reported

Not sure of the status as a bug report.

Re: TSM and OES 11 SP2

Further research shows that the eDirectory name change from "Novell eDirectory" to "NetIQ eDirectory" caused it to loose the archive, which led in turn to it backing up the entire directory as opposed to incremental. which on a 2 TB disk can take some time. So the back up was reported as "slow" or failing were actually just backing up a large quanity of data.

So outside of marketing, was there any real reason for this?

It's a tad - if only a tad - more than marketing; eDirectory IS a NetIQ product now, not a Novell product.

Re: TSM and OES 11 SP2

perhaps they should of discussed it with their few remaining vendors that support their products.

Thanks to this we are now enduring another round of "get rid of novell, it's more trouble than it's worth", and I'm starting to agree with them

Re: TSM and OES 11 SP2

This happens even in the best families. Everyone could tell you horror stories from ANY vendor.

BTW there seems to be a hot patch for this:

"Placeholder bug regarding 3rd party vendor problems following tsands branding change"

Re: TSM and OES 11 SP2

saw that! we've got a question as to whether or not this will cause another mass re backup with TSM. IBM shrugged their shoulders, haven't tried Novell yet, really don't want to burn an SR on a binary question
