Tablet XPSP2, Novell Client 4.90sp2 & a blue screen

Has anyone ever experianced a blue screen after installing Novell Client
4.90 sp2 on XP Tablet edition 2005??
It blue screens after the reboot and when you try to login. Doesn't matter
whether you login to the workstaion or to the network.

I've tried it on several machines and it blue screens all of them. I had
one that only had XP SP1 and it work no problem.

Any Ideas??

Thanks

Brad,

Any chance the ZFD 3.x remote management components are installed with the
Novell Client?

You can disable the automatic reboot by going into Windows System
properties, Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery, un-check Automatically
reboot.
Can you isolate the issue to a particular file or process?

Event Viewer logs in Windows showing anything unusual?

Security or any other driver-based software like firewall, VPN, remote
management or antivirus installed and running?

Can you give us any details about the make/model of hardware, NIC and its
drivers, etc. of these tablets?

Re: Tablet XPSP2, Novell Client 4.90sp2 & a blue screen

Could be the remote manage comp. I'll try installling it without
But I found a "work around". I ended up installing The 4.90 sp1a client
with no problem.
I wish I could check the event viewer but there is no way of getting in the
PC. It blue screens continually, whether in safe mode or not.?
I thought it was the firewall but I disabled it and tried installing sp2
but it still blue screens.
The Tablets are the Acer Travelmate C110's. They have the Intel Pro 2200BG
wireless cards in them. I thought that was it causing the problem so I
disabled the wireless feature but it still does it.
Funny thing is that I have an older Acer TravelMate C110 with only WinXp
sp1 on it and the 4.90sp2 client installs fine on it..?
The Paranoid brothers I work with thought maybe that the MicroSoft brothers
where trying to mess with Novell.... always a conspiracy theory.
I'll stick with the 4.90sp1a client for now and continue to work on getting
sp2 installed.

Thanks for your response Toni.

Brad

You're quite welcome.
In the past the older ZFD remote management component has been known to
cause issues on tablets. Its most likely an issue with it binding with the
graphics/video card driver.
