Trying to Change eDirectory's NTP Address

Hey, people.

We had to change the IP address of our NTP server, and I'd like to know how to change that address in NDS. There's nothing in the documents; can someone ship me a clue?

Thanks.

Sure
Go into Yast -> Network Services -> NTP configuration
And make the adjustments there as needed.

Re: Trying to Change eDirectory's NTP Address

That's what I thought as well, but when I upgraded a server from OES2-SP2 to SP3, there was NDS trying to connect to that old NTP server address and complaining when it couldn't get a response. So NDS is keeping that old IP address in there somewhere, though I'll be blasted if I can figure out where.

Re: Trying to Change eDirectory's NTP Address

The docs indicate that's the spot to change things:

Novell Documentation

Not sure if a reboot is needed (docs don't indicate that it is)

Just to be clear, eDirectory does not manage or deal with NTP (or any
other time synchronization protocol) at all and that is entirely left up
to the OS. eDirectory has a time synchronization report but that is
simply talking to other eDirectory servers to see how close their time is
to the local server and has nothing to do with NTP (if the time was
synchronized via NTP but just happened to be synchronized for all servers
the report would still show the servers all synchronized). eDirectory
finds server addresses via the network addresses stored within eDirectory
so if those changed for a given eDirectory server you should make sure
that the addresses listed on the server and partition-root objects are
similarly updated for that server.

Good luck.
