Unable to open or delete subdirectory

I have a Netware 5.5 SP3 server with the post-SP3 NSS & SERVER.EXE patches
installed. There is a folder on an NSS volume that I can't open, rename,
change the attributes or rights, or delete. I have tried Windows, The
Netware Commander (CC.NLM), The Netware Administrator, and Console One. I
neach utility I get a different error message. I will list the messages
below:

1. Windows Explorer
Open - \\RA-FS-NW-1\VOL1\TEACHERS\CCOOPER is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access permissions and "A device
attached to the system is not functioning."
Delete - "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from source file or disk."
Rename or Change Attributes - "A device attached to the system is not
functioning."
Change Trustees is Blank.

2. CC.NLM claims that it can't access the folder.

3. Netware Administrator
Open - "An error occured during the attempt to build a list of the
subordinate objects"
Delete - "\\RA-FS-NW-1\VOL1\TEACHERS\CCOOPER could not be deleted (35241)."

Re: Unable to open or delete subdirectory

Sorry I sent this before it was complete. Here is the rest:

4. Console One does nothing when I try to open the folder, and the option to
delete it or modify it are greyed out.

I have rebooted the server. Is there anything else I should do?

One tool I've found to be of real use in situations like this is TOOLBOX.
If you load it with the "-NL" flag, it'll only read the 8.3 namespace
names which can be darned useful when dealing with namespace corruption
issues. I'd give that a try.

If that doesn't work, try accessing it from the Novell Remote Manager.
Sometimes that can get in where other programs can't.

Re: Unable to open or delete subdirectory

So far, NRM doesn't work. It doesn't even list the folder.

Re: Unable to open or delete subdirectory

And Toolbox NLM says the folder doesn't exist!

Looks like it's staying put until I can recreate the volume.

Have you tried using Filer from a command prompt on a windows
workstation? I had something similar with a folder that got corrupted
and had some goofy characters in the name. Filer managed to get rid of it.

Re: Unable to open or delete subdirectory

Filer doesn't even list the folder as being there!

I might call Novell, or I may wait until I can safely recreate the volume.
