Unclear on how to create a volume on an iSCSI partition

I am testing an iSCSI setup, new stuff to me. I have created an iSCSI
partition. The initiator connects to the target, everything fine there.
But I can't seem to figure out how to create a volume on it. Any tips
would be helpful.

Thanks, HT

As soon as the initiator is succesfully connected to the target, the
rest behaves exactly like a local hard disc, no difference whatsoever.
E.G you should see the iscsi device in NSSMU, NRM or iManager.

We after a weekends rest, I tried it again and figured it out. Seems
iManager is the way to go. No luck with NSSMU.

It really shouldn't make a difference, but glad it works for you.

What might be issue causing the difference of what is displayed in NSSMU / other
tools?

How to "sync" this discrepancy?

I just remember that thread in DCSN where the sysop refused to answer your
question upon NoRM...

Why said something was different? What do you read out of "No luck with
NSSMU" which I don't read?

Which discrepancy?

Totally different story.

The start of that thread:
http://www.google.de/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-0
2,GGLG:de&q=ff30co%24an1%241

Who? Guenther?

<cite>
Ja, so ist es auch - vom heutigen Wissenstand aus gesehen, stimmte
die Anzeige im NoRM, die im NSSMU war nicht richtig - jetzt stimmen
beide - leider 😞
</cite>

<trans>
Yes, that's fact - from a today's point of view the output of NoRM was correct,
but not NSSMU - now both work all right - unfortunatly 😞
</trans>

So I thought that your insisting on "What does NoRM display?!!?" have a good
reason, e.g. that there /sometimes/ discrepancies can show up.

NoRM and NSSMU not having identical output.

OK. And what's about this story? the iSCSI should work (here not display) the
same way, but didn't.

I'm just curious about potential issues with NoRM, that's all: Better safe than
sorry.

Regards, Rudi.

Emm, Rudi: Wrong thread, wrong place, different topic.

Nobody was talkign about Norm, but iManager, and nobody said something
about different output. What are you talking about?

Rudi, you read *WAY* too much into an unspecific sentence like "no luck
with XYZ". Why do you try to insist on creating some virtual issue out
of absolutely nothing?

May I tell you yet a again that NoRM wasn't even *mentioned* in this
thread here?
