Volume compression

To restore a volume I have to turn on compression. I need to know if I
can turn it off after the restore.

Thanks for any help

Re: Volume compression

Nope, not without backing up the files uncompressed - it's an option in
most Netware backup software, and then restoring the files again from that
new tape. I'm pretty sure you'll need to delete and recreate the volume to
get rid of the compression flag as well.

You would need to recreate the volume - compression can't be removed.
One possible work around, that will affect the whole server though, is
to set the "days untouched before compression" to its max value - that
will force the system to0 wait 300+ years before compressing anything,
and existing files will decompress as they are are accessed.

Re: Volume compression

Sounds like it is a newly moved/created volume anyway, so I'd just to a
restore compressed / backup uncompressed / reset volume / restore
uncompressed routine, then you know where you are
