Warning, please increase the Agents license for Windows Nodes

I get this warning backing up Windows 2000 servers
I do have the right amount of licenses for Windows agents (AS 9.01 never
complained, AS11.1 seems not to like it)

Any idea?

Seb

Re: Warning, please increase the Agents license for Windows Nodes

I take it that you've launched the "License manager" that is part of the
manager interface and entered all the license codes for your 11.1 products
including the agent for windows?

No, still use Agents for AS 9 (do not really see the reason to upgrade)

Re: Warning, please increase the Agents license for Windows Nodes

Not really, apart from the warning in the log, the backup works perfect, so
why to spend money?

Re: Warning, please increase the Agents license for Windows Nodes

I am legal!!!

I did pay for version 9 of the agents.

And I do USE version 9 of the agents.

I paid for the core 11.1 of AS & I use core 11.1

Where would you see anything wrong with it?

IMHO AS 11.1 should not give an error or should simply refuse to work with
lower agents (but that would be really over the top, after all agent does
nothing but pass the data to the core)

But it's not legal to use 9.X agents with a 11.X core.

I don't. CA does.

Re: Warning, please increase the Agents license for Windows Nodes

That is more than rubbish approach, agents are SEPARATE products paid for
separately (not part of AS CORE)
Hence IMHO if I want to use them I just do that

I'm afraid I'm the wrong person to address your rant to. I'm just
stating facts. You're legally not allowed to use 9.X agents with a 11.X
backend. That has been true forever with Arcserve, just that in previous
versions it simply wouldn't work at all, whereas now you just get a
license warning. Not to mention of course that this is also completely
unsupported.

Re: Warning, please increase the Agents license for Windows Nodes

Well, sorry about the rant
Will just live with the warning then...
