Windows XP / VISTA Client Install

has anyone been able to install a 4.9 client on a Longhorn Vista Beta 1
Machine ? We have tried but, get version install errors from the client
e.g. xp = 5.1 longhorn = 6.0

How embarissing, simply click on the properties of the nwsetup.exe and add
Xp compatibility , of course their come 1000x overwrite messages and
unsupported drivers.. on a reboot their is no novell login screen so it
seems it didnt install the nwgina correctly, it seems MS has moved the
gina.dll in the registry also . -oh well was hoping to get the novell
client on the box running .. guess well have to use cifs 😉

As you found, the current Novell clients will not run on Longhorn/Vista.
Novell currently is investigating whether to produce a client for Vista.

No CIFS please!
BTW, Microsoft will change login process in Vista (this IMHO is good
because current implementation is very complex) and that probably
means a lot of work for Novell (again) - or maybe not - because MS
promises that it will be easier to implement custom logons.

If you have written a product that uses a GINA, Notification DLL, or CSP
plan on changing this for Vista.
