Wireless 801.1x Computer Only Logon If Not Connected

I have been working on a staff laptop build which incorporates wireless logins via 801.1x on our campus network. I have set up the laptops to have two Novell profiles (wireless and cabled) and computer only login.

In an ideal world I'd have liked to have a single Novell login screen presented to the user where the client attempts to login firstly over WiFi, before falling back to a cabled connection and if no network connections are present a computer only login would automatically occur.

I noticed the feature I've been waiting for has recently appeared in Novell Client SP2 IR4 for Windows 7 - Computer Only Logon If Not Connected.

The problem is the Novell client doesn't seem to recognise the WiFi connection as an active network, possible because the user details from the login screen are required to connect to the wireless.

Is there any way to achieve what I'm looking for with the current setup?

Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately the way in which the new
"Computer Only Logon If Not Connected" feature works, the eDirectory
login attempt is skipped entirely if Windows hasn't reported any
connected networks. ("Connected" to Windows means it's been able to
determine the network address, the DHCP and DNS servers in use on that
network, the category you've previously assigned in Windows to this
network such as "Home", "Work", etc.)

And in the case of Novell Client 802.1x integration, it's actually
during the eDirectory login attempt that the eDirectory credentials
are first presented for an 802.1x authentication attempt, before
proceeding with the eDirectory login itself.

So you're right, because the "Computer Only Logon If Not Connected"
feature is reacting to the Windows networks reported as connected
/before/ making any kind of eDirectory login attempt, this means no
802.1x authentication will have been attempted yet, and therefore the
802.1x-dependent wired or wireless interfaces will not yet appear as
successfully connected to Windows.

I've registered this as Bug 775156 for future consideration, but no,
you're not missing any "magic setting" that will achieve this specific
802.1x-related functionality within the existing Novell Client 2 SP2
(IR4) "Computer Only Logon If Not Connected" feature.
