XP Pro x64 support yet?

Just wondering if Novell has gotton around to producing a Netware Client
that can be installed on XP Pro x64 yet?

Our firm really does NOT want to go to Vista, but we've discovered a problem
with one of our primary CAD applications, AutoDESK Revit 2009, and Novell's
CIF's implementation which may force us to drop XP Pro x64 as our
workstation OS of choice.

I look forward to your response.

Re: XP Pro x64 support yet?

To the best of my knowledge there will never be a client for XP 64, demand is simply too low to make it worthwhile. And now Win7 is imminent, so the Vista skeptics such as yourself have an alternative way forward.

Re: XP Pro x64 support yet?

Are you using CIFS on Netware or on OES2 Linux?
On the Linux side you could switch to Samba instead of CIFS. Whereas it
is definitely slower than CIFS it is much more compatible with WIN 2003
x64 and WinXP x64 than CIFS. Otherwise I'd try a service request to get
CIFS useable for your situation.

Re: XP Pro x64 support yet?

Currently using CIFS on Netware. I've downloaded OES2 Linux and am trying to
find a spare computer on which to install it for testing purposes. Once I've
done so I'll do as you suggest, testing to see if Samba works where CIFS
won't.

Have you ever tried to report this problem directly to Novell?

Re: XP Pro x64 support yet?

No. Not sure how I would go about it.

If you have NetWare or OES with maintenance, then you should be able to
open a service request. If not, you can still open a service request with
a per incident payment, but that is very expensive. Novell might reverse
the charge if the problem proves to be a Novell bug, but there is no
upfront guarantee for that.
