high utilization during backup

I am testing my first NetWare 6.5 SP3 server which is in it's own tree. I am
backing it up with Backup Exec v10.5520 on a Windows 2003 server. During
backup utilization hovers around 100% and nothing I do seems to help.
NDMPD.nlm seems to be what's causing the high utilization.

Dell PE 2850, 3Ghz, 2GB RAM
N65NSS3A and NW65OS3A installed
tsa5up18.exe installed
set client file caching enabled=off
set level 2 oplocks enabled=off
SET TCP DELAYED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT=OFF
SET TCP NAGLE ALGORITHM=OFF

TIA,
Kevin Miller

Re: high utilization during backup

NDMPD.nlm is a BE module, so you'd need to contact them for updates.

Re: high utilization during backup

Turn off the AV during the backup.

or

Move your data to a non-compressed drive.

See TID 10098663 for an explaination. While you're not running Arcserve
it's the same issue I think (at least you're not skipping files!).

Basically, if you're running compressed volumes, and trying to scan for
viruses while backing up, and are running a fast backup system then you run
into the problem in this TID. You can see if it is the problem by either
moving the data to a non-compressed area, or turning off the AV during
backup.
