java won't unload and thus server hangs

hmm...the other day I did an update from nw65 sp2 to sp5a; during the
update of course it wanted to unload java but java woudn't finish
letting go and the update went south. scrambled, backed it out,
restarted server, unloaded java THEN ran update, and life was good.
About a week has gone by. Todya I attempted to down and restart my
server...hung on java again! had to go to debug to force it down; even
alt-console would not release.

Thing is, I watched it on the logger...it unloaded jsock then about
another dozen or so things, then jvm finally it said java
unloaded....what is it still trying to do at that point that keeps it
from finishing the unload?

thanks in advance.

Just a hunch, and maybe worth a try:
Manually unload the module OWCIMOMD
then DOWN the server when it's done.
Let us know if that makes a difference.

The module you mentioned is not currently loaded...so I can not unload it
before downing....
