ldap port 389?

We are running Linux 10.1 OES 2 server. Workstations are running Windows
XP sp2. We can connect ldap on port 636 but can not connect ldap on 389.
Can someone advise where I should look into to fix this issue? What do I
miss on Linux OES 2 server?

Thank you very much!

Re: ldap port 389?

April,

It's probably just that LDAP on port 389 is set to require TLS.
Check the properties of the LDAP server object in eDir and there
should be a checkbox for Requiring TLS for all operations. Uncheck that
and restart the LDAP server and try again.

You might also need to check the 'Allow clear text passwords' in the LDAP
Group object.

Please note though that TLS is recommended for simple binds as it
enhances security some degrees.
