may not have the appropriate permissions

I just reinstalled my SBS65. When I login (admin or any other user) I'm getting the following message when opening eg. rconj.exe or consoleone.exe,
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them.

But I CAN copy eg the mgmt di and run the files from my workstation. I also can cerate a file in the 1.2 dir. I just can't run from this place.

any ideas?

Re: may not have the appropriate permissions

M Keyzer,

Lets gather some more details about your environment before we start dishing
out advice...

What version and SP of the Novell Client?
Any additional components of the client installed?
What protocols are bound to the client?

What version and SP of Windows?
Windows Event logs showing anything unusual?
Was Windows installed from scratch, a custom image, or an OEM image?

Security or any other driver-based software like firewall, VPN, remote
management or antivirus installed and running?

Re: may not have the appropriate permissions

The thing is, it's not only on my PC, but on every PC.

But because you want to know, some more info.

version 4.91.0.20050216 client
extra installed ndps
protocols, just tcp/ip

win xp, sp2
nothing special in any logs
windows installed from scratch

Re: may not have the appropriate permissions

The word "permissions" implies that this is a Windows security/configuration
issue not a NetWare one.
Do you have Group Policy or any other software configured to control where
executables can be launched?

Can you verify a virus, spyware or some other corruption has not affected
Windows?

I've used these free utilities in the past to help troubleshoot and they can
tell you wonders about what is really going with Windows...

AutoRuns, Process Explorer, Filemon, Regmon, LoadOrder, TCPView, and TDImon

Re: may not have the appropriate permissions

Thanks for the tips on the software, but I don't think its a windows problem.
I can login to many other Novell servers and don't have the same problem there.
