network browsing uneven, erratic

Have a site in which we're running two Netware/OES servers. Both are
configured with DNS. DHCP is being provided by a Windows server.

In this network - network browsing is erratic. Sometimes it's very fast,
but sometimes machines around the network can't get a browse list for
several minutes.

We do not have a WINS server - I have removed it from the network.

I keep contemplating as to whether or not to move DHCP to Netware, but
I'm not sure this would make a difference. However, is there something I
could be missing on the Netware side that would fix this problem?

Thanks for any ideas.

Re: network browsing uneven, erratic

Do you have more than one segment?
Do you have SLP configured?
Is DHCP handing out the SLP info?

Hmmm.... no, not more than one segment, and no, DHCP is not handing out
SLP info. I completely forgot about SLP in this environment - it is
configured (if you remove SLP from the protocols on the Netware client,
it stops working completely).

Re: network browsing uneven, erratic

Try adding the SLP info to the DHCP server IP handout.
