not logged-in connections not cleared / re-used

we hav a GW701SP1 server based on NW65SP4a, on which the number of not
logged-in connctions and the highest connection number keeps rising, now
nearing 18,000
what is the maximum number of connections allowed, and how can the not
logged-in connections be cleared?

TIA

There's no set number, I guess some server memory buffer will fill up at
some point.

In Monitor - Connections there's a Clear option, is it the F8 key I
think? But that doesn't address why they are happening, this is very
unusual these days. I guess it is likely to be a rogue app on the server
(eg anti-virus) or a bad lan driver.

there are 5 basically identical configured servers on identical HW. this one
has groupwise and a replica as "extra", two others have dnsdhcp, iprint,
zfd and a replica as "extra' , and two are just plain fileservers. only the
groupwise server has the problem
AV is SAVCE 10.0.2.2001 on all servers, network drivers are qasp.lan v2.25
4/16/2004 and q57.lan v8.65 1/20.2006 on all servers.
i found a tid on this happening in combination with gw55 webaccess, placed a
question about the "why" on the GW webaccess forum.

thx
