oes11sp3

I see my oes11sp2 servers have an update waiting "Enable update to
Novell OES sp3".

Has anyone done this upgrade? If so, any gotchas, things to look for,
problems, etc during or after the process?

I'm guessing oes11sp3 is supported on sles11sp3 since my servers are
showing the update enabler and they're running sles11sp3.

Re: oes11sp3

I'm taking the plunge with one of my less essential servers as I type.
Note that the upgrade involves both updating SLES 11 to SP4 and OES 11 to SP3.

So my response to gathagan's comment is...

Was wondering about that. Any info you wish to share about the process
would be *MOST* appreciated.

type yast wagon and go on.

Done about 600 servers now and no glitch what so ever.

So my response to Alex's comment is...

Ok, doing my test servers first and it does seem quite straightforward.

You have your own SMT server? If so, did you do the same procedure
with that box & have similar results?

We run our own smt server and did the commandline upgrade procedure:

So my response to Alex's comment is...

Thanks. Did figure out I had to re-install SMT on this box, but was no
big deal, was about a week away from having to redo my cert on this box
so it worked out nicely.

One other question, you happen to run a GMS server? Have one here
that's sles11sp3 (no OES), and wondering if the same process works for
that box, or if a re-install would be forthcoming.

So my response to Alex's comment is...

Ok, one *other* question, is the channel-upgrade-oes necessary at the
end?

Found a document from when I went to oes11sp2 and that was the last
step.

If you have oes component installed on the gms server, yes. Otherwise
no.

Re: oes11sp3

Well, the update itself was trouble-free. I've performed it on a number of servers without issue.

There was a patch that had problems arising out of the first server I updated.
Specifically, attempting to install the latest patches results in the following error:
openssh-askpass-6.2p2-0.24.1.x86_64 requires openssh = 6.2p2, but this requirement cannot be provided

I've a separate thread on the issue:
https://forums.novell.com/showthread.php/499851-open-ssh-askpass-error-with-latest-patches

I chose to downgrade the openssh-askpass component, which allowed the patches to install successfully.
Per the input by one of this forum's stalwarts (ab), that particular module seems to be necessary only if you are using KDE.

The more recent servers I updated haven't had that problem yet.
