Rename or delete the FORMAT.EXE file on your C: drive.
It's installed automatically during a DOS installation.

Re: "format c:" from console.

I don't know that you can disable it -- it is an internal command to
the OS.

Of course it can only be run by someone who has access to the server
console (directly or remotely).

That's what I thought, but when I get to the Sys:\system directory on
the server, a simple Format command seems to be valid -- that is, I
don't need Load C:\Format -- a simple Format C: will work -- format is
on the root of the C drive -- didn't think Netware would look to it
automatically.

Its not using the format.exe, format is now a built in console command.

Doing an "alias format <something else>" will prevent the format
command, eg : alias format rem Format is disabled

Good point. I do remember an ATT session where using the Alias command
raised a bit of a ruckus with the Novell teaching crew <smile>.

Makes a change, especially with his favorite alias command <g>

It was not the ALIAS command but rather a special NLM that prevented
certain programs from being run.

Ah -- thought it was run in conjunction with Alias -- but Hamish might
be right, the Alias fun might have been Shaun's gift <smile>.
