reinstall system & public

We have a Netware 6.5 SP5 server. I think some of the files in the system
directory are corrupt and need reinstalling. I would like to reinstall
those files, but it must be done without changing any of the server
configuration. How do I do that? Thanks.....

Re: reinstall system & public

If you are not looking to reinstall, you could reapply SP5 -- what sort
of files do you believe are corrupt -- and what leads you to this
conclusion?

My problems first started when we had SP2, but have since installed SP5.
I had a volume/pool problem and had to rebuild them. Since that problem
occured, the backup system will lockup every night on different folders
within the SYSTEM folder. I can exclude the folder from the backup job
that it locked up on and then the next night it will pick another folder
and lockup again. Tech support for the backup software (Arcserve) are
stumped and actually told me on Friday that they were out of ideas or
suggestions.

Thanks....

Re: reinstall system & public

In that case you should apply nw65sp5upd1 and n65nss5b, then do

nss /poolrebuild /purge

on the affected pool(s). Make sure you have tested backups first, just
in case.

Re: reinstall system & public

I don't think it is a case of corrupt files -- but as Andrew notes,
with SP5, deploying the post SP5 updates is a really good first step.
