safely flatten and reinstal new server with same name

I have some kind of nMas, ldap, certificate foobar somewhere in a new
server that I can't seem to fix, so I want to try starting over
completely. I don't want to mess anything up further, so I thought I
would post my strategy for this routine and ask for any advice, in case
I'm missing something.

Basically, all I was going to do was go into NWConfig and "Remove
Directory Services", then delete any leftover objects that are centered
around that server, DSrepair and unattended full repair and make sure
the replicas are all in sync, and then, reinstall the server with same
name and IP.

How does tat sound?

Er, fine. When you say reinstall, if you mean the whole of NW then
there's nothing more you need to do. If you mean reinstall it into DS
only, then you'll have to manually run setupnls afterwards, then add a
server license (if 6.0).

Yes, I'm going to reinstall the server itself from CD. (There's some
srt of disconnect somewhere that's causing things big problems with
parts of the whole password thing, so failing other solutions, I'm going
with a reinstall.).

OK, presumably you're going to use the nw6sp5 or nw65sp4a overlay ISO
installs

Yes, I burned a new copy of the nw6sp5 overlay CDs and reinstalled
from them. No Problem.

Unfortunately, it did nothing to address the problems of not being
able to connect to the simple or universal passwords via ldap. So, it
must be some other as yet imagined cause. <sigh>
