slow write performance with DOS 32bit Client

Hi all together,
I am connecting over TCPIP with the Novell 32bit DOS Client to a NetWare 6
server. Then I´m starting DriveImage. Reading is very fast, but writing is
so slow, that it makes no sense to work with that. Have anybody an idea,
why or have anybody a solution for that?

Thanks
Josef

Re: slow write performance with DOS 32bit Client

Are you saying it is OK with any other client, only slow with the Dos
one? If so it can't be a server problem, and you should post over in the
client32 forum.

If it is a server issue, what SP and other patches are applied? What lan
driver, date and version, on the server?

Re: slow write performance with DOS 32bit Client

yes, it is only with the DOS IP Client.
The server is running with NW 6.0 SP5
I will post it in the client32 forum.

Thanks

Re: slow write performance with DOS 32bit Client

This is a known issue with the NetWare Client for DOS running with TCP/IP. With IPX/SPX
it's fast. As the DOS client is no longer supported - except for installing NetWare
across-the-wire, which is only reading from the file server - it appears Novell aren't
going to fix it.

See this thread:

The NetWare install-upgrade forum should be appropriate for this topic.

Re: slow write performance with DOS 32bit Client

I tried it with the SET TCP DELAYED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT = OFF.
Now the write performance is ok.

Thanks
