tsafs smartpurge

We are having a problem with smartpurge enabled on GroupWise 6.5.3 and
NetWare 6.5 sp3.

When it is enabled the tivoli dsmc client resends files that have already
been backed up. This only happens when smart purge is enabled, otherwise
the file is only backed up once. We think it may be that dsmc sends the
file to the tivoli server for backup, tsafs updates the timestamp of the
file, tivoli backup server checks that the backed up file is consistent
with the file on the file system, but it has changed due to the timestamp
update, so the file is resent.

Question is, when does tsafs update the timestamp? As soon as the file has
left tsafs for backup, can we delay the timestamp update? This would
resolve our problem I think.
