what the procedure for changing LAN card

my network card was damaged and I replaced it

new one shows up as ETH1 so I renamed it by changing 30-net_perisitent....

Software firewall is disabled since I'm using NAT router

put can't ping the network !

HELP!!

BTW: I'm using NOWS SBE 2.5

You may want to ask this in the NOWS SBE forum. I mention this because the last time I tried/used NOWS SBE, you couldn't (at least reliably) do things in Yast all the time (had to use the SIMBA interface).

If you disabled your "old" LAN card in the BIOS (or removed it from the server) then Yast (again, ASSUMING you can even do this in NOWS SBE) should only see one NIC.

Generally what I've done/had to do is remove (delete) any references in Yast to the network card, reboot it (yes, no network at that point), and then EDIT the NIC that it sees and give it the same IP, etc. as what the old one was.

Then I usually do a 2nd reboot and it works fine.

But that's with regular SLES and OES2, not NOWS SBE.
