wrong server name in ConsoleOne

A server in our tree has the wrong name in ConsoleOne. The server itself
has the correct name. Sync status in dsrepair also shows the wrong name.
The name is that of another server in a different OU. When you select the
server in ConsoleOne and choose remote console, it defaults to the ip
address of that other server. We've done Dsrepairs etc. Ideas? Thanks.

You'll probably need to follow TID 10023479 - "Server name appears
differently in DSREPAIR from the server console":

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?10023479.htm

The eDirectory name has been changed from the server name loaded in
AUTOEXEC.NCF. This sometimes requires removing and reinstalling
eDirectory. Make sure trustee assignments are saved prior to removing
eDirectory.

Mike--I forgot to mention that the server name is also incorrect in
dsrepair. Does that impact the appropriateness of the tid? Thanks for your
help. --Paul

wrong server name in ConsoleOne

Yes, the TID still applies.

Also be aware that you'll need to recreate any objects associated with the
server object (SSL Certificates, etc.). There are additional TIDs out
there on how to accomplish this.

Re: wrong server name in ConsoleOne

Before you do such a radical thing as removing the server from the tree,
first try if kicking the limber process helps resolve the issue:

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?10053914.htm

Also, what happend in your network that cause the problem to appear in
first place? Did you do server renames? Did you rename multiple servers at
the same time? Maybe depending on how your current situationw as created,
there is an easy way out.
