Add Firefox on Windows as fully supported browser for OMi/OBM vers 10.63+ console

Add Firefox on Windows as fully supported browser for OMi/OBM vers 10.63+ console

We have an urgent need to utilize Firefox browser to access the OMi console.  Our current OMi/OBM version is 10.63 and the current Firefox version in use is 60.0 running on Windows 10.

Please add full feature set support for the Firefox browser to access the OMi/OBM console.

Dear Submitter,

When you say fully supported browser, i understand you are referring to the need of using RTSM local client for RTSM admin UIs, right?

Today, all the application UIs in OBM are fully supported with the firefox browser and only the RTSM Admin UIs have an issue where OBM has a dependency on the UCMDB to provide the HTML5 UIs. This is on their roadmap and as soon as it gets implemented by them, OBM will incorporate the same.

Let us know if you were referring to any other non RTSM UI.

We are referring to ALL OBM-related consoles, RTSM included.  The Workspaces (Event, Performance, Health perspectives, Dashboards) and Administration consoles which includes RTSM.

Hi, what is the issue with workspace pages like Event Perspective, Health Perspective or Performance Perspective, that works fine with Firefox?

Hi Timothy,

Can you please reply to my earlier question on what is the issue with workspaces pages like Event Perspective, Health Perspective and any other page? As i mentioned before, Firefox is a fully supported browser except that RTSM admin UI works with a local client.

At the time of submittal last July, we were informed that the OMi Event console was not fully supported in Firefox.  We need to be able use ALL OMi/OBM web features from Firefox just as we would from Chrome or IE.  Is it fully supported as a browser for the OBM console and RTSM console on vers 10.63 and later?

Hi Timothy,

I'm not sure from where did you hear that event browser is not fully supported with FF. Here is the snippet of the support matrix in this regard and you can see there are some limitations w.r.t. admin UIs only.

Please note that for the admin UIs, either you will have to use another browser that still supports java applets or need to use RTSM local client available with release 2018.05 onwards.

We need the admin UIs to be supported.  We were told that FF was not supported at the time I submitted this request last summer.  When will RTSM admin be Java-free?  I am not sure the local client has been evaluated by our org.

Hi Timothy,

java-free RTSM admin is a roadmap item for UCMDB team and it will take some time before it gets completed. So, in the interim, suggested approach is to use the RTSM local client  which is available since OBM 2018.05 release. Even though this is provided with the OBM 2018.05 release onwards, it should also work with the version 10.63 but please note that we have not tested it.

Status changed to: Already Offered

As described in the comments, OBM already supports all UIs except RTSM Admin UIs with firefox. For RTSM Admin UIs, we have provided local client. Hence, this request will be marked "Already offered".

Let us know if there is anything else missing.
