OMi / OBM version that does no longer need Adobe Flash Player

OMi / OBM version that does no longer need Adobe Flash Player

Due to security policies, we are no longer allowed to use Flash Player and corresponding browser plugins starting May 2019.

Therefore we need an OMi / OBM version that does no longer need Flash Player as client-side prerequisite before this deadline (May 2019).

For many of my customers, especially many of the most security-conscious ones, they are running Linux workstations, and Windows-based solutions are not relevant. They use Firefox, and Firefox has deprecated Java support, and the Flash issues remain as security items to address... and the longer this lingers with no timeline to assign to them, the more it sounds like we are not listening to their concerns.

Is this something that needs to be escalated to Prooduct Leadership?

A new version of OBM (2019.05) was released last week. Adobe Flash is still used e.g. HTML Event Browser -> Event Detail Popup Window or in many administration menus.

This issue gets more and more critical every day, and will very soon be a competitive disadvantage for our product suite in government or security conscious environments. If there is a way to release an enhancement on this front AHEAD of a larger point release, I think we would IMMEDIATELY see customers availing themselves of this.

PLEASE CONSIDER PUSHING UP THE RELEASE OF THIS.

This is really problematic and with the number of votes should be a priority in my opinion.

Really, really critical. New browser updates (i.e. Firefox) no longer have option to allow Flash permanently; we now have to be prompted every time.
Our security department will probably forbid use of OMI due to lack of usable update unless we soon have a usable GUI without Flash. GDPR forces us to update software ASAP, so this should be a priority.

Is there any update on this?

When will you offer OBM without needing Adobe Flash?

Is there already a patch available or do you have a similar solution like for the uCMDB standalone client?

It is really an important topic!

Hi All,

This is the top priority item for the product team and next two major releases of OBM will provide the flash free Operational UI and admin UI respectively. There have been concerns raised by many of you on this idea due to the lack of an update but as you may understand that its a significant change that the team has been working on for quite some time. If you or your customer needs an official statement or more details on this, please reach out to the product management team via your MF contact.

Thanks & Regards,

Mamta
