OBR : Status of Collection process showing Unknown.

 

Hi Expert,

Status of collection service is showing unknown on OBR admin UI.

  1. A) We did following steps to sort out this issue but couldn’t help.

                    1) ovc -stop

                    2) ovc -kill

                    3)ovc -start

                   4) Refresh Admin UI but no use, after that also it show same status.

 

  1. B) Also check the collection.log file and found following entries.

Can you suggest how to sort out this issue?

We also check space on OBR server and there is more than enough space is available

Do you have any remote collectors configured? The status will show question mark if *any* of the collectors have issues, e.g. collection service stopped, low disk space etc.

Check also: remotepoller.log for any errors (even if you have no additional collectors configured).

There can be many causes. The steps you tried are for a known issue where we are missing some environment variables, either on the local collector or any remote collector.

We check every few minutes via an ovdeploy command to get the status for the collection service:

ovdeploy -cmd "remotepollerutility -collectionstatus' -host <localhost or remote collector name> 
ovdeploy -cmd 'remotepollerutility -servicestatus' -host <localhost or remote collector name>'

If these commands fail (they will always say result in error) but collectionstatus should return:

[root@pue01obr06 log]# ovdeploy -cmd "remotepollerutility -collectionstatus" -ovrg server
ERROR: (depl-86) Unable to execute command 'remotepollerutility
-collectionstatus' on node 'pue01obr06.swinfra.net'.

If you still can't resolve the issue please engage our support team.

Hello CMS,

thank you  for your reply.

We dont have Remote Collector, all OBR components are installed in single server.

I tried below commands and it executed succesfully, also checked remotepoller.log file but there is no entry for ERROR.

I will engage support team.

Thank you for your suport. This issue hasbeen resolved after restarting the OBR sever.
