Generic Database Connection in HP SHR 9.40
Dear Experts,
We have installed HP SHR 9.4 in our environment but customer here wants to integrate its own MSSql database with HP SHR and fetch its data.In HP SHR documents only how to setup generic database connection is mentioned whereas how to get data from generic database (i.e where to execute sql query)and display in SHR reports is not mentioned. Pl suggest how to achieve this.
Regards,
Bharat

Hello,
You would setup your MySQL database as a datasource under the Generic Database section of the Collection Configuration section of the SHR Admin Screen.
That is the easy part, however.
In order to gather data and create reports, you will need to create a Content Pack for your data, as well as a BO Universe and Reports. See the SHR Content Development Guide for details.
There are also a series of videos on You Tube that cover custom content creation for SHR. They concentrate mostly on creation of ETLs, with the last one being a short intro to report development:
- Content Development in SHR - Part I: Overview
- Content Development in SHR - Part II: Domain Content De-mystified
- Content Development in SHR - Part III: Data Roll-up in SHR - The power of dimensional analysis
- Content Development in SHR - Part IV: ETL - Potpourri of data integrations
- Content Development in SHR - Part V: Application/Report Content

While performing the below steps , We don’t see any folders created "Two folders—BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools\SP5Client and BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools\SP5.3Client"
3. SAP BusinessObjectsXI 3.1 Client.
a. Copy the BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools.zip file from the bits/packages/BO folder of the
Linux installation media to the Windows system.
b. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to the Windows system.
Two folders—BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools\SP5Client and BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-
Clienttools\SP5.3Client—are created.
c. Run the setup.exe file from both the folders; start with the SP5Client setup.exe.
d. Follow the instructions on the installer wizard to perform the installation.
Pl suggest how we can get this folders
Two folders—BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools\SP5Client and BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-
Clienttools\SP5.3Client

I just tested this on my Windows workstation after copying BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools.zip from the Linux SHR system. After BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools.zip is unzipped, it gives a root directory named BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools. Under this BusinessObjectsXI-3.1-Clienttools folder, I see the two folders:
If you are not getting them, you should probably transfer the zip file from the Linux shr systems again. It must have been corrupted in the transfer.
