Hp Openview 8.0 / Windows Server 2003 SP2 all windows nodes.
I have been asked to integrate SIM into Openview. They would like any messages from SIM to forwarded to OV. I read there is a policy to do this but I cant seem to find it. Can anyone give me a step X step instructions or point me to the direction on how to do this. I have never used SIM before so I really don't know much about it. I know we are able to get hardware traps because I already do that from other devices. Just

Hi algavi,
The way we do this is, we have configured all managed nodes to send snmp traps to the IP address of our HPSIM Server. Then, we deployed the HPSIM policies to the HPSIM Server.
Hope this helps,
Brandy

Thank you for the reply. Where do I get the policy you are referring too? I can't seem to find it in our policy inventory.

there are couple of ways to do this. I believe on the application DVD there is SIM integration package this. package includes policies, applications, and an additional binary the runs on the SIM server. The SIM server needs to be a managed node. This integration provides two way communication between OV and SIM. An alert acknowledged on one is acknowledged on the other.
the other alternateive is to use the web incident service on the OV side and install the Management Platform Sychronization (MPS) on the SIM server. This will forward alerts from SIM to OV through MSI.
