HP Operations Manager for UNIX (java gui) and Cold Start traps
We get get SNMP traps, etc. send to our OMU management server and we can "see" them on our HPOM browser. One trap in particular(i.e.,Cold Start trap)can cause an operational issue. If a user or owner of that server does not acknowledge that "Cold Start" trap message, then when the next "Cold Start" trap comes through, it just registers as a duplicate(there are reasons for setting up duplicates). We typically, through a Remedy SPI, create a trouble ticket for each "Cold Start" trap. If the first "Cold Start" trap is not acknowledged, it "blocks" any more trouble tickets being created for that server. My question is, how can we get OMU or opc_adm to "automatically acknowledge" all "Cold Start" traps after a pre-determined period of time? We want to save some users from themselves. Thanks.
Just thinking of ideas to accomplish this, I think for this you can consider creating an automatic action that executes a script to acknowledge the messages you need.
Here is a simple example of the command you could run:
#opcack -c -e -u user=opc_adm last_time_from="Apr 25 12:00:00 2014"
Possible filter names are: msg_text, severity,
time_from, time_to, last_time_from, last_time_to,
unmatched, node_name, node_list, msg_group, applica-
tion, object, ownership, CMA:<CMA-name>.
I hope you get a better answer.
