Hello,

Text: Health notification for 12.03.003 perfalarm: perfalarm is in 'Stopped' state.

To command "opcagt -status" shows:

I tried the following steps:

# opcagt -stop
# /usr/lpp/perf/bin/ovpa stop

# opcagt -cleanstart

... but unfortunately this does not resolve the problem.

Any idea how I can fix this problem?

BR Roland

Hi all,

thanks for your tips. I got it working on HPEOA 12.3 and HPOA 12.4.

Here are the steps which I have performed:

cp /usr/lpp/perf/newconfig/alarmdef /var/opt/perf
/usr/lpp/perf/bin/ovpa start alarm

/usr/lpp/OV/bin/oalicense -set -type PERMANENT "HP Operations OS Inst Performance LTU"
/usr/lpp/OV/bin/oalicense -set -type PERMANENT "Glance Pak Software LTU"
/usr/lpp/perf/bin/pctl start

/usr/lpp/OV/bin # opcagt -status
midaemon Measurement Interface daemon (7733618)Running
ttd ARM registration daemon (8257932)Running
perfalarm Alarm generator (7405838)Running
perfd real time server (12255710)Running
hpsensor HP Compute Sensor AGENT,OA (8126968) Running
oacore Operations Agent Core AGENT,OA (17564086) Running
opcacta OVO Action Agent AGENT,EA (8782278) Running
opcle OVO Logfile Encapsulator AGENT,EA (8519988) Running
opcmona OVO Monitor Agent AGENT,EA (17498484) Running

ovbbccb OV Communication Broker CORE (6226302) Running

ovconfd OV Config and Deploy COREXT (15466964) Running
Agent Health Status: Minor, Time:Thu Sep 21 15:11:12 2017

Message Agent is not buffering.

Thanks & BR Roland

Hi Roland,

What are the licenses enabled on that server? Am not sure if you are already aware that perfalarm will be in stopped state by defualt, do you plan to use the alarmdef defnitions?

Cheers,

Priya

Hi,

this alert comes from "agent health" and does not neccesarily mean you have a problem. The perfd process only runs if you have purchased the required realtime license and installed it. The perfalarm is not started, if there is not a valid alarmdef file installed, which is not by default. See the OA documentation for this, you can copy one from the examples directory to the right place.
I know that these "false" alerts have caused some confusion and this has been corrected with a Hotfix on OA 12.03 at least for Linux. I think the changes have rolled into the 12.04 agent version, so maybe this is the best thing to install to get rid of these alerts, if not desired.

hope this helps

Marc

Hi Roland,

glad that I could help. Just to make it clear: Setting the Glance and Realtime License to permanent requires, that you have PURCHASED a license from Micro Focus in order to use this. If this is not done you run into a legal issue, as you are not compliant and not elibible to use that license. So make sure you have purchased the appropriate license.

Best regards
Marc
