Limit the OA DB size

Hi Everyone,

I developed several scripts that collect some information and evaluate them to trigger alerts. But I also use, in the same scripts, the "oaperapi" to store those collections into the OA DB. It works great and I can graph them into some Perf Dashboards.

However, the OA DB are growing and I can see no mechanism to trim those collections : I only tested the oadbutil.pl utility which is able to empty a specific store, but, to my knowledge, cannot trim the older data. I also had a look into the agent config to see if some specific command could help me ... but I did not find a way for now.

Does anyone know about this?

Thx for your help

Hello,

Search for the keyword "customsize" in the parm file:

Unix: /var/opt/perf/parm
Windows: %OvDataDir%/parm.mwc

For instance, if you create a class MYCLASS in datasource MYDS, and you want the data to rollover when the datafile reaches 50MB, then add a line like:

customsize "MYSDS.MYCLASS"=50

If I remember well, it will keep 4 old (rolled-over) datafiles on top of the current one. So with the above, your data will consume up to 250MB.

You may need to restart oacore for the change to take effect (I'm not sure):

# ovc -restart oacore

Thierry.
