PA Collector Service Missing

Hi

I've installed OA 12.01 on several windows nodes and find that perfalarm & perfalarmsrv are stopped.

I'm not sure if the correct license is installed, but it seems the PA COllector service is missing.  I've tried oaclean and re-installed agent but still the service is missing and perfalarm is stoped due to missing service.

Anyone have any suggestions, is this a licnse problem or an OA 12.01 on windows x64 problem?

Oh Ok I found the problem - got it to work now...

Here's how. (OA 12.01 install really should perform this task)

This worked for me too.

Do you know why this happen?

Because We have a lot of agent happing this.

i think this happens in environment where you'll use SCCM to push agents in bulk environment due to which few agents properly not installed on the servers

If parm or alarmdef file doesnt exist or has invalid data it cause PA to do strange things. especially older versions of teh agent are picky.

there are policies in the IS MP that deploy parm and alarmdef file from OBM server to node. But older versions of IS MP contains parm and alarmdef file of Agent version 11 which causes syntax errors on Agent12 if deployed. Also i found issues with the perl script that moves the parm & alarmdef file to correct location on windows nodes. deploying them causes events like "configfile error".
