Changing default preferences in portlets

I would like to change the default settings of portlets.

For example, in the Navigation portlet, the default settings are:

Status indicator: diamond
Element Link Behavior: Expand and Drive.

I would like the defaults to be:

Status indicator: oval
Element Link Behavior: Drive Only

By exporting from an already configured community (.lar file), I can
find the xml as follows. I have placed this code in
C:\NOCDashboard\server\webapps\ManagedObjectsPortlets\WEB-INF\data\globals.custom.xml,
but it does not work after restarting the dashboard service. The syntax
is a bit different in the export in that it uses "preference" as
singular instead of plural. globals.custom uses the plural form.

<globals>
<data>
<components>
<component>
<name>navigation</name>
<preferences>
<name>compNavigation</name>
<value><mo_portlet_preferences>[$NEW_LINE$]
<com.mosol.portlet.preferences.impl.component.NavigationPreferences>[$NEW_LINE$]
<indicatorImage>oval</indicatorImage>[$NEW_LINE$]
<height>auto</height>[$NEW_LINE$]
<labelClickMode>DRIVE</labelClickMode>[$NEW_LINE$]
<pushEnabled>true</pushEnabled>[$NEW_LINE$]
<initialized>false</initialized>[$NEW_LINE$]
</com.mosol.portlet.preferences.impl.component.NavigationPreferences>[$NEW_LINE$]</mo_portlet_preferences>
</value>
</preferences>
</component>
</components>
</data>
</globals>

Or maybe I'm in the wrong place to begin with.

Steve

Re: Changing default preferences in portlets

Steve,
This is possible. There is a file in
server\webapps\ManagedObjectsPortlets\WEB-INF\data called
globals.custom.xml, which can be edited by the user to specify defaults
for portlet's edit side options. It follows the format of globals.xml,
but is meant for the user to specify their own defaults.
Unfortunately not all of the newer portlets respect this file and its
settings.
For more help I suggest you contact support.
