Operations Center November Patch Bundle (PB7)

Over the last few months, Oracle has been rapidly making security
changes to their Java Webstart
technology with the goal of tightening up the overall level of security
that they provide. This process
will continue with major changes to come.

NetIQ Operations Center leverages Java Webstart as a way to deliver our
Operations Center Client
to desktop systems. This has been a successful approach that eliminates
the need to permanently
install the user application software locally. Unfortunately, if Oracle
changes the behavior of Java
Webstart, those changes could affect the behavior of our Client and
cause it to have issues or fail to
start up.

We are aggressively testing each new Java release for any issues, and we
will release Operations
Center updates as soon as possible.

We have released the NetIQ Operations Center November 2013 Patch Bundle
(PB7) to comply with
the tightened security model introduced by Oracle Java 7 Update 45 and

- A new software signing certificate.
- Properties in the JNLP file are now passed using a JNLP.prefix.
- Operations Center .jar file includes manifest file changes to reduce
log warning messages.

This patch bundle release does not include any new features or
It is imperative that all customers upgrade to this patch bundle as soon
as possible because it also
addresses future Oracle Java security changes that will cause the
Operations Center Client to fail.
