Can a CI name convention prevent resolving of CI?

Jump to solution

Hi,

I created CI's in RTSM for http endpoints.  I gave these CI's names like http://endpoint.asmx

SCOM BSMC provides  alerts for these endpoints (eg http://endpoint.asmx) and in the event policy I attempted to force CI to resolve for example http://endpoint.asmx.

However I get the following message in the Status field for Related CI resolution Info...

Note: Hint "http://endpoint.asmx" did not match.
Unsuccessful CI resolution: Fallback to host.

I suspect this may be due to either the ":" or the "//" in the text. Are there any textual limitations on use of special characters etc in recolving CI's?

Kind Regards Graham

Hi Graham,

The CI resolver uses by default the colon character “:” as CiInfo Key Separation Character (Character used to divide the CiInfo into the keywords used to find RTSM CIs.). This can be changed from Infrastructure settings of OMi if needed.

As indicated the : is used in the identifying

You can also maybe change the Naming of the CI to what the URL/WebService does, and put the actual URL in another field.
