Deployment failed, Node is not resolvable using DNS. Please check your DNS configuration.

Hi

I am in the progress of moving agents from our OMW to our OMi. For some of the nodes i am getting this error:

"Deployment to node "convoy-db-smarttv-1" failed. Node is not resolvable using DNS. Please check your DNS configuration."

screenshot.png

This is very strange as OMi is able to resolve the node using DNS (including reverse lookup):

C:\HPBSM\opr\bin>nslookup convoy-db-smarttv-1.int.stofa.net
Server:  ns-1.int.stofa.net
Address:  85.218.128.20

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    convoy-db-smarttv-1.int.stofa.net
Address:  172.27.0.43

C:\HPBSM\opr\bin>nslookup 172.27.0.43
Server:  ns-1.int.stofa.net
Address:  85.218.128.20

Name:    convoy-db-smarttv-1.int.stofa.net
Address:  172.27.0.43

The Node is also able to resolve OMi.

OMi and the node can communicate:

On OMi:
C:\HPBSM\opr\bin>bbcutil -ping https://convoy-db-smarttv-1.int.stofa.net

https://convoy-db-smarttv-1.int.stofa.net:
          status=eServiceOK coreID=fe333c8e-6d63-758b-1804-a5e035cf7da2
          bbcV=12.00.078 appN=ovbbccb appV=12.00.078 conn=4 time=185 ms

On Node:

[ldr@convoy-db-smarttv-1 ~]$ sudo /opt/OV/bin/bbcutil -ping https://hp-opsbgw-1.int.stofa.dk

https://hp-opsbgw-1.int.stofa.dk:
          status=eServiceOK coreID=4b438452-8f53-758e-047e-b00ea3f21178
          bbcV=12.02.008 appN=ovbbccb appV=12.02.008 conn=26 time=68 ms

Node is running CentOS 6.7, Agent version 12.00.
OMi is version 10.60 IP1, running on 2 windows 2012 servers

I have just moved 30 Agents to OMi without issues. I am facing this issue on 20 similar nodes. All are resolvable using DNS. How can i fix this?

Hello

One of the things that should be confirmed is if the nodes that currently are showing the problem belongs to the same group or are from the same node type.

Another thing that should be confirmed would be the policies installed on the OA on the nodes that can’t be moved, in order to confirm that this is not due to a missing policy.

And as a good practice you should add the nodes on hostname for the OMi servers.

Best regards

you might want to verify by checking the deploymnt log file on the GW server - often you are only presented with half the error information in the UI.

/log/jboss/opr-configserver.log

HI Luir,

Have you tried host file entry of problem nodes?

Ashok
