Re: How to integrate SM with OO

Hi Dom,

There are 2 sides to this. Integrating OO with SM and integrating SM with OO. I've included both and alos the links where you will find more documentation.

1.) HP Operations Orchestration (OO) integration with HP Service Manager (SM) allows OO to create, update, close, and query for information on change tickets. Check out the documentation and content pack for this from the following link;

https://hpln.hp.com/node/88/contentfiles

2.) For linking and executing OO flows in Service Manager then check oout the Service Manager online help which is available from the following link;

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00493466

Refer to the following topics which discuss the integration with OO and these areas you might want to look into;

System Administration > Integrations > HP Operations Orchestration (OO)

System Administration > Integrations > HP Operations Orchestration (OO) > Operations Orchestration integration setup

System Administration > Integrations > HP Release Control (RC) > Release Control integration setup

System Administration > Integrations > HP Release Control (RC) > Multi-tenant (multi-company) support > Enable multitenancy for Service Manager and UCMDB

Re: How to integrate SM with OO

Hi Dom,

For 10.x OO version you can download the SM Content Pack directly from HPLN, under Operations Orchestration -> Content Catalog: https://hpln.hp.com/node/21/contentfiles

Corresponding documentation should be uploaded in the same place.

Thanks,

Maria

Re: How to integrate SM with OO

Thank you guys for answers ant tips.

I'm strictly interested in integration SM with OO (not OO with SM <- this I have already did)

I'm interested how to integrate SM with OO - for example to be able to run some OO flow when in SM someone first created change or incident and than "signal" is passed to OO to run some specific flow ...

Best Regards

Dom

Re: How to integrate SM with OO

Hi Dom,

There are two of integrating SM with OO and I will cover each of these off and point you to the documentation for each so you can configure these if necessary.

1.) Linking and executing OO flows in SM incident record through a KM article (SM - OO)

Description

This integration helps improve the incident management process by leveraging the strength of linking OO flows in SM Knowledge articles and enabling their execution, then attaching the results to the incident record. As part of the incident investigation process, access to related Knowledge articles/items (if any exist) are available. These articles are launched in the context of a specific incident. This enables the triggering of relevant OO flows whose results are attached to the incident record.

Service Manager provides a seamless integration of Operation Orchestration in Incident Management. Information regarding OO flows is stored and kept up-to-date in the "OOFlow" table through the OO released SOAP web services interface. Service Manager invokes an OO Flow via the OO RESTful web services interface when the SM user selects to execute the OO flow in the context of Incident Management. The rough execution result is saved in the incident activity log. The user can open the detailed OO report link inside the SM client and bypass the login UI of OO to view the detail information from the execution.

2.) Launch OO Flow from SM RFC (SM - OO)

Description

Launching HP Operations Orchestration (OO) flows from HP Service Manager (SM) enables you to provide quicker, more automated change processes, with the ability to automate the deployment of a change. The SM-OO integration also provides the capability to trigger OO flows within SM RFC and use SM record parameters in OO flows.

Automated Deployment of Changes (SM to OO)

In order to use automation to perform various actions within SM, the integration provides OOTB capabilities to trigger OO flows within SM.

The following implemented utilities enable these capabilities:

  • OOTB OO Flow content for various Change implementations:

Example 1: Flow to run SQL scripts
Example 2: Flow to restart a specific service or server

  • OO Flow selection from within SM
  • User definition of the trigger method:

                    - Manually, by the user
                    - Automatically, based on the following defined criteria:
                              -Upon approval
                              -Based on schedule

Using SM Record Parameters in OO Flows

The SM-OO integration supports OO receiving the necessary flow-related parameter values.

The parameters can be defined in one of two ways:

  • Fixed value
  • Reference to SM RFC/CI fields-directly from the SM RFC record or CI record, in order to utilize them when executing the automated flow. This will enable generic or commonly used flows to be consumed in an ongoing manner with minimal user intervention or need for any customization of flows.

Documentation

Documentation for this integration can be found using the following links:

Refer to the following topics in Service Manager 9.32 Online Help:

  • System Administration > Integrations > HP Operations Orchestration (OO) > Operations Orchestration integration setup
  • System Administration > Integrations > HP Release Control (RC) > Release Control integration setup
  • System Administration > Integrations > HP Release Control (RC) > Multi-tenant (multi-company) support > Enable multitenancy for Service Manager and UCMDB
