OO 9.07 Create AD User error - "no such object on the server"

Seems this was asked (but never answered) about 2.5 years ago, too - http://community.hpe.com/t5/Operations-Orchestration/HP-OO-9-07-Problem-creating-user-on-AD/m-p/6276137/highlight/true#M1392

When attempting to run the Create User (.NET) operation against AD, I get back the following error: "There is no such object on the server."

Can connect to AD to do searches, group updates, and more all successfully - but Create User is giving back this distinctly unhelpful error message.

Should I be using a different operation? The Java version maybe? Something else?

Re: OO 9.07 Create AD User error - "no such object on the server"

Follow-ups with the fix that worked for me:

  • make sure you use "OU=<ouname>" and not "CN=<ouname>" (thought the "CN=" format works if you're trying to put a user in "Users")
  • make sure you follow any password rules - in this case, there was a 3-of-4 requirement and they need to be >=14 characters
