(OO) Support Tip: Can MS SQL Server Database Filegroups be used for the OO DB
Operations Orchestration does not reference storage in any way. The product uses simplistic database creation scripts. Database optimization is ok from Support perspective, as long as your dba take full responsibility for it.
The following suggestions, if taken into consideration, should be done before you start using OO – when the database is created without any table present:
• You may use several data and log files
• You may place data files on one file-group, and log files on another file-group
• It is not recommended to place specific tables and objects on non-default file-group. When applying future OO upgrades, new tables or modified tables do not stick to the currently used file-group. OO uses a simplistic “CREATE TABLE FOO (COL_BAR NVARCHAR(50), …)” without any reference to file-groups. Any new table or object will simply be “relocated” to the default file-group.
The information presented here is not in the OO database manual because there are multiple possible configurations and only the configurations that have been tested are listed.
For performance place the tempdb on a fast filesystem and also the transaction log.
