[OO Support Tip]: How to correct the Garbage Collection (GC)

Question:

What parameters need to be changed or added to correct a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Garbage Collection (GC) error?

Answer:

Steps to check or validate:

1. Check the Central’s wrapper.conf file the following -XX:+UseGCOverheadLimit

The "-XX:+UseGCOverheadLimit" is a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Garbage Collector (GC) setting, the "XX" does not stand for anything and should be entered as it is.

2. If this line doesn't exist, then add these entries:

For Windows OO Central server, add the following line to the end of the wrapper.conf file - located in ..\\central\\conf\\ directory:

wrapper.java.additional.#=-XX:+UseGCOverheadLimit

Where # is the number of previous wrapper.java.additional statements in the file +1.

Example: If looking through the entire wrapper.conf file and "wrapper.java.additional.3=SomeText" is the highest number seen on "wrapper.java.additional" lines, the line to add would be:

wrapper.java.additional.4=-XX:+UseGCOverheadLimit

Stop and restart OO Central service for the change to take effect.
