[OO Support Tip] How to create a separate log file for HTTP client based operations

This document is a "How to" and covers how to create a separate log file for HTTP client based operations.

Solution:

Steps to create a new log file for monitoring HTTP client based operations:

1)      Add the following lines at the end of the log4j.properties file found at %ICONCLUDE_HOME%\RAS\JAVA\Default\webapp\conf\:

log4j.logger.org.apache.http.client=DEBUG,H

log4j.additivity.org.apache.http.client=false

log4j.logger.org.apache.http.wire=DEBUG,H

log4j.additivity.org.apache.http.wire=false

log4j.logger.org.apache.http.authentication=DEBUG,H

log4j.additivity.org.apache.http.authentication=false

log4j.logger.org.apache.http.impl.client.HttpAuthenticator=DEBUG,H

log4j.additivity.org.apache.http.impl.client.HttpAuthenticator=false

log4j.logger.org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultHttpClient=SEVERE,H

log4j.additivity.org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultHttpClient

log4j.logger.org.apache.http.impl.client.TargetAuthenticationStrategy=SEVERE,H

log4j.additivity.org.apache.http.impl.client.TargetAuthenticationStrategy

log4j.appender.H=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender

log4j.appender.H.File=${log.dir}/httpClient.log

log4j.appender.H.MaxFileSize=1000KB

log4j.appender.H.MaxBackupIndex=10

log4j.appender.H.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout

log4j.appender.H.layout.ConversionPattern=%5p (%d{HH:mm:ss,SSS}) %c - %m%n

 2)       Restart RSJRAS

 The new log file called httpClient.log will be found at %ICONCLUDE_HOME%\RAS\JAVA\Default\webapp\logs.
