[OO Tip] Database capacity planning

How can the database (DB) size required by an Operations Orchestration (OO) installation be determined?

  • There is no documentation on capacity requirements for the DB used by an OO installation because the amount of space needed for each run of an OO flow can differ greatly.
  • Database sizing is widely variable based on what the flows are doing.
  • OO records the results of commands that are executed. For example; if many simple Unix commands are executed, each step may take 1KB. If web pages are being read, each step may take 50KB. An understanding of the OO usage conditions will allow for an educated estimation to be made. For example; remediation against Unix machines may be 10 steps at 1KB each = 10KB .
