[OO Tip] VMware operation "Get Guest Info" throws a null pointer exception in 9.00

Problem:

Using Operations Orchestration (OO) 9.00, and when using the operation "/Library/Integrations/VMware/VMware Virtual Infrastructure and vSphere/Guest/Get Guest Info", if the Virtual Machine (VM) is not running (Powerstate=poweredOff), this operation will fail with a null pointer exception. It will not throw an informational error message.

According to the description of the operation:

"Retrieves information about a guest os running in a virtual machine. VM tools must be running on the guest to retrieve this information."

Thus, if the VM is poweredOff, VM tools aren't running as well, so the operation fails.

The expectation is that if the VM is powered off, the operation "/Library/Integrations/VMware/VMware Virtual Infrastructure and vSphere/Guest/Get Guest Info" should throw an informational error message instead of NullPointerException.

Resolution:

Please contact OO Support and provide this number #QCCR8C21634 and request for update.
