Unable to redirect output of flow variable into a file.

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I am new to HP OO and is trying to work on assigning results of local ping to a file. The ping result is coming good but when I tried to redirect this ping output to a file on the central, following error is shown: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

The write to file utility is working fine when value is passed as constant. But when using previous result step as the input to write to the file, the process fails.

Is there any transformation that needs to be applied on the flow variable ??

And what exactly is the format of returnResult ?? is it plain text, xml or anything else.

Any relevant reply would be highly appreciable.

Thanks

Hello,

It would have helped if you'd exported the relevant flow. In any case, I attached a sample with a working flow that writes the content to c:\temp\ping.txt.

To see this flow, unzip the attached zip and use the import option in Studio to import the directory RedirectTest from within.

Hope this helps,

Guy

Thanks Guy !!

This workflow helped. I was using Write to file function of "Windows only" instead of "Cross Platform". Now I can proceed wth rest of the flow development. 🙂
